Safety rules for girls in Bangalore
Ladies... In light of the recent kidnapping and now murder of Leigh Mathews I think it is important to read the following info for your own safety.Things women should know to stay safe: Please take the time to read these pointers. There may just be one or two you hadn't thought of. After reading this, inform other whom you care. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.
1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it!
2. If a robber asks for your handbag, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you.... he is probably more interested in your handbag than you and he will go for the handbag. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
3. If you are ever thrown into the boot of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm through the hole and start waving. The driver won't see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.
4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their cheque book, or making a list). DON'T DO THIS! A predator could be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, and attack you. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.
5. A few notes about getting into your car in a car park:
A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and check the back seat.
B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most attackers surprise their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the shop, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)
6. ALWAYS take the lift instead of the stairs.Stairwells are horrible places to be alone (and the perfect crime spot.)
7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ.RUN!
8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.
9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her 'Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street & get run over. The policeman said, "We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.
He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear babies' cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night. Please pass this on and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby.
I'd like you to inform this to all the women you know. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. I was going to send this to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well.

Thoughts for the weekend....
Didnt have any serious topics for blogging.Thought i will share some information i gathered during the day...
--> We have a one semester course in "Principles of management and behavourial sciences".Some feel it is not necessary for engineers. But the course is good, you can get to know a lot about management and various other topics, which we busy engineers are not usually aware of.Anyway the faculty was not available today and the substitute faculty shared a few big authors name and about their books with us.Am sure many of you out there know these bigwigs but am hearing about thier work for the first time.I have made it a point to read them when time permits. The following are those books:
1) Thomas Friedman - Why the world is flat?? http://www.thomaslfriedman.com/worldisflat.htm
2) Who says elephants can't dance?? by Louis.V.Gerstner http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060523794/104-2351553-7159938?v=glance&n=283155
--> Some time for english vocabulary
Fair-weather friend - A person who is dependable in good times but is not in times of trouble.Think some of us can identify with such friends.
--> The audio of Jillunu oru kadhal been released. For those of you who want to catch up during the weekend, spend some time to hear these songs.Am eagerly waiting for this film...especially the chemistry between Jyothika and Surya is going to be amazing.
Ok ppl...thats all for the weekend. Will try to get some other topic to blog during the weekend.
Take care and happy weekend..

Wish Life had an UNDO Function!!
This is the profile name of one of my friends in the great vetti site ORKUT and I felt it was true to the core.Am sure everyone would have had this feeling one time or the other...my God why did i do it??,how good if i could just reverse the effect.
Well its happened for me umpteen number of times. It may be our words or maybe our actions or our thoughts. It comes out spontaneously, many a times we never think about the consequences. Then comes the stage..."OH NO"..............
Its just a click of a button that Bill Gates has provided to undo. But for us mortals God has also given the total control of that button to us,as our thoughts and as our self control. To use it, you have to do the opposite.Think twice before you do anything.Give two minutes and think of its consequences. If you are in control of yourself, either in times of despair, confusion, anger and happiness..then you won't feel the need for the UNDO Function in life.
After all this, even if the inevitable happens, then keep cool..No use crying over spilt milk. Just try to minimize the impact of the action, analyse why it happened and avert it the next time. But don't make it a habit!! Its upto us to make or break......
From my personal experience, it takes very great effort, but one which is not unachievable.
ok ok i can hear you people say "blade podathu".Will come up with something else in my next post.

DEATH BY CHOCOLATE
Death by Chocolate!!! sounds scary right???....am sure all of you have heard of death by asphyxiation etc....but not by chocolate.(hard-core bangloreans may have got an idea by now) .....Any guesses???? and how do you experience that...??? Well this blog is going to tell you exactly that!!! So ready for a wonderful experience...am nt kidding guys :D
Well "Death By Chocolate"(DBC) is the most wonderful mouth watering ice-creams you can get in Bangalore...am sure no one will challenge this fact. It is available at "CORNER HOUSE ICECREAMS" which you have at a number of places in Bangalore. My friends had described to me innumerable times about this ambrosia. But i assure you, no amount of description will prepare you for the delightful assault on your tastebuds.
It was a Friday and we decided to celebrate the ushering in of the weekend by having lunch outside and it was decided to go to CORNER HOUSE @ Marathahalli. I was wondering ice-creams for lunch??? Since i had heard about the DBC, i thought why not try it? My team was amused and asked me:are you sure? Have you any idea what is it? Well frankly speaking I just knew it was supposed to quite tasty and told her "ya ya no problem". Our orders came and lo Mine was the biggest tub of icecream..and i had a mouthful of it and my it was the most wonderful taste. It is actually a four layered icecream. The first layer is a mixture of chocolate fudge and nuts. This is followed by a combination of vanilla and chocolate icecream and then a layer of rich chocolate cake.hummm...delicious.Most of you will be full in 5 spoons but a true connoisseur will be able to complete.I successfully completed about 95% of it.
Wallet Factor: A DBC costs around 100bucks.But it is more than sufficient for 2 persons. If you are planning to have it alone see to that u have ur stomach is empty and you can also skip dinner.
Warning: You will have many restaurants selling the DBC but they are not the authentic ones. If you want to have DBC, then Corner House is the place to have it!
Bon Appetit!

Been wanting to store my memories of pleasant old days and not so very pleasant old days for a long time....but was not sure whether i would be able to do it frequently....some memories are readily available..some are stored elsewhere and need some coaxing to come out....lets see how many get stored...will be back soon....
btw..i love pictures which are meaningful, cool, humourous and convey meaning in a few words....will try to put some good ones, whenever i can..today its roses..dunno why but i have great affection towards this one among the wonderful creation of God...maybe because they are beautiful , maybe for the creativity of God..maybe because they symbolize luv...
This particular rose picture was taken at The Rose Garden of Chandigarh...acres and acres of Roses...one gets the odd feeling that you have entered the gates of Heaven..if someone gets an oppurtunity to visit this place..i have only i advice....DONT MISS IT..
hey!!! but what is the other picture doing here.....of course "THEY ARE THE ROSES OF OUR CLASS "
Thats all for now...take care...bye bye...
